PARTNERS IN PERFORMANCE: AFTERMARKET COMPANIES PARTICIPATE IN 2000 COBRA R PROJECT
The 2000 SVT Mustang Cobra R benefits from components supplied by aftermarket companies that participated in the project - companies whose names will be familiar to people who shop for performance equipment to modify their cars.
"From our initial concept for this Cobra R, we decided to produce a car with all the right equipment," says Tom Scarpello, specialty vehicle marketing manager at Ford. "These companies participated fully in the development process."
The result is not only a well-equipped, ultra-high-performance Cobra R, but also a selection of Mustang performance equipment with the added advantage of development and testing in the Cobra R program.
"Many of these companies are putting lessons learned on the R program directly into parts they make for Mustangs and Cobras," says Scarpello. "The SVE team and these companies have done all the engineering work, and all Mustang enthusiasts benefit."
